SLEMA Energy Management Forum on ‘Lighting Design’ |

The second of the series of Energy Management Forums organised by SLEMA for its members was held at IESL Members Lounge on 29th November 2011. Prof. Rahula Attalage made a presentation on ‘Lighting Design’ with Mr. Nuwan Adikari extending the presentation to cover the subject area of ‘Integrating Lighting Simulation’.
The presentation session was followed by a lively discussion by SLEMA members on the same topic. Several pertinent discussion pointes were brought-up by Mr. Ananda Namal, Mrs. Ramani Nissanka, Mrs. Taranga Wickramarathne, Mr. Ananda Munasinge and Mrs. Thushara De Silva, broadening the discussion for the benefit of other members attending the forum. Mrs. Ramani Nissanka, the coordinator of the successful series of Energy Management Forums thanked the two presenters and the members for sharing their knowledge and expertise. |

SLEMA Advisors Dinner-2011 |

The board of directors of SLEMA organised a Dinner meeting for the panel of distinguished advisors appointed for the 2011/2012 session and the past presidents of SLEMA. The Advisors Dinner was held at Galle Face Hotel on 2nd December 2011. Distinguished advisors including Prof. Mohan Munasinghe, Prof. K K Y W Perera and General Manger CEB Mr. Nihal Wickramasooriya provided the board with some important suggestions to add to the words of wisdom shared by the past presidents and pioneers of SLEMA who happened to attend the esteemed annual event. |

New Vision and a Mission for SLEMA |

At the recently held AGM, SLEMA adopted new Vision and Mission statements as follows:
Vision: be the most recognised professional association in energy management in the region.
Mission: strengthen capacities for delivery of effective energy services, advocate rational use of energy and promote policies for sustainable development. |

27th AGM and the Annual Dinner of SLEMA |
| |
The 27th Annual General Meeting of SLEMA was held on 30th July 2011 at Ceylon Continental Hotel. The board directors for the term 2011/2011 was selected at the AGM with Mr. Ananda Namal being appointed as the President. SLEMA members including many past presidents attended the AGM and the Annual Dinner which followed the AGM.

SLEMA Annual Sessions-2011 |

The Annual Sessions of Sri Lanka Energy Managers Association was held on 29th July 2011 at Ceylon Continental Hotel with the participation of about 100 members and Invitees of SLEMA. Three eminent speakers made presentations under the theme “Nuclear Energy – Opportunities and Challenges for Sri Lanka” following the eloquent key note speech made by the Chairman of Atomic Energy Authority Dr. Wijayawardane.

SLEMA Members Evening - 2011 |

On 24th June 2011, SLEMA held its Annual Members Evening with a presentation done by eminent wind energy expert and SLEMA member Mr. Sunith Fernando. ‘Wind Power Development – Sri Lankan Experience and Challenges’ was the theme of the presentation and the event was attended by about 50 members and invitees of SLEMA.

Eng. Ananda Namal appointed the new President of SLEMA |

Eng. Ananda Namal (DG-NERD Centre) has been appointed the new President of SLEMA as the successor to the outgoing President Mr. Ananda Piyatilake. Mr. Nimal Perera assumed duties as the Senior Vice President while Prof. Rahula Attalage was also appointed as a Vice President by the Board of Directors of SLEMA. |

SLEMA Annual Sessions 2010
Annual Sessions of SLEMA was held on 30th July 2010 at Ceylon Continental Hotel, Colombo. Sessions theme; ‘Energy Sustainability of Buildings’ inducted by an informed key note speech by the Minister of Power and Energy, Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, attracted an audience of more than 120 SLEMA members, invitees and guests. Four pertinent presentations were made by eminent professionals in the field, enlightening the audience on the following;

AGM of SLEMA
26th AGM of Sri Lanka Energy Managers Association was held on 31st July 2010 at Galle Face Hotel, Colombo. A new Director Board was elected to lead the organization for the term 2010 / 2011.
SLEMA Future Strategies
A workshop to formulate future strategies for SLEMA was conducted on 17th July 2010 with the participation of SLEMA board members and past presidents. Several key issues were identified and analysed in depth, forming a basis to formulate strategies for the benefit of the organization and its membership
Visit to Upper Kotmale Hydro Power Project
A made a second visit to Upper Kotmale Hydro Power Project in June this year. More than 30 participated in the two day field visit. |
